Life timber for all

The LIFE Timber for All project promotes the transfer of results at the Lignomad Network technical conference

Within the framework of the replicability, results transfer, communication and dissemination activities (WP7 and WP8) of the LIFE Timber for All project, researchers from the University of Granada (UIMA Laboratory) participated on 20 July in the technical conference organised by the Lignomad Network, which brought together professionals from across Spain in Catalonia working in forest management, the timber industry and timber construction.

The event provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the progress of the LIFE Timber for All project and to establish contacts with companies, technology centres, public administrations, universities, architecture studios and other strategic stakeholders in the sector, thereby promoting knowledge transfer and the future exploitation of the results obtained.

The programme included a visit to the Forest Hub of the Forest Science and Technology Centre of Catalonia (CTFC), where technical meetings were held with researchers and centre representatives to exchange experiences on sustainable forest management, the use of local timber, the development of engineered wood products and public policies aimed at promoting the forest bioeconomy. These experiences provide an important reference for their potential replication in other territories, such as Andalusia.

Participants then visited Industrias Boix, one of the leading companies in the manufacture of cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels, where potential synergies between its industrial processes and the construction solutions developed within LIFE Timber for All were analysed. During the meeting with the management and technical teams, the progress of the project was presented and opportunities for collaboration were explored in order to support the market transfer of innovative products, such as the family of timber-concrete composite solutions.

The event concluded with a visit to the Únicas Sant Joan de Déu building, currently under construction with a timber structure. This provided an opportunity for extensive networking with architects, engineers, developers, construction companies and representatives of different public administrations, while disseminating the solutions developed within the project and analysing their potential application in future buildings.

Participation in this activity has contributed directly to the objectives of work packages WP7 and WP8, strengthening the dissemination of the project’s results, the exchange of knowledge with key sector stakeholders, the identification of replicability opportunities and the promotion of the future commercialisation of the products developed by LIFE Timber for All.

Through initiatives such as this, LIFE Timber for All continues to strengthen its national collaboration network and to advance the effective transfer of innovative solutions that contribute to more sustainable construction based on the use of local timber.
